Day One Recap: 2017 ITA Division I National Women’s Team Indoor Championships
(February 10)

NEW HAVEN, CT – Following a full day of competition that saw most of the seeded teams advance, the quarterfinals are set at the 2017 ITA Division I National Women’s Team Indoor Championship in New Haven, Connecticut.

Florida opened the tournament with a difficult first-round opponent in 13th-ranked Michigan. The Wolverines took the doubles point from the top-seeded Gators, but Florida came back in singles to claim the match, 4-1.

Texas Tech was the only team to knock a seeded team out of the tournament as the Red Raiders defeated No. 8 seed Vanderbilt, 4-2.

Fourth-seeded Pepperdine and No. 5 Georgia will meet up in Saturday’s quarterfinal round. The Waves defeated Texas A&M 4-2, while the Bulldogs maneuvered past Duke 4-1.

The bottom half of the bracket saw No. 3 Oklahoma State (4-1 over Ole Miss), No. 6 Ohio State (4-0 over Auburn), No. 7 Cal (4-0 over Georgia Tech) and No. 2 North Carolina (4-0 over Yale) all move on to the quarterfinals, with the Cowgirls and Buckeyes facing off in one Saturday matchup, and the defending #ITAIndoors champs Golden Bears taking on the Tar Heels.
