TEAM/SINGLES/DOUBLES
TEMPE, Ariz. – Oracle and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced the updated Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings for Division I men on Thursday, with no changes to the top-ranked team, singles player and doubles team.
Earlier this week, the NCAA announced the fields for the 2016 Division I Men’s Tennis Championships. Virginia, the No. 1-ranked team in the Oracle/ITA Collegiate Tennis Rankings, are the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. North Carolina is the No. 2 seed (No. 3 in the rankings), with UCLA (No. 2 Oracle/ITA ranking) and TCU (No. 4 ranking) checking in at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.
The Top 16 seeds will host four-team, single-elimination regionals, with the winner from each respective region advancing to the Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on the campus of the University of Tulsa, May 20-24. The singles and doubles championships take place May 25-30.
In singles, Ohio State’s Mikael Torpegaard, the No. 1-ranked player in the country, is the No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament, while in doubles, the top-ranked duo from Florida, Gordon Watson and Diego Hidalgo, are the top seed in the NCAA field.
